Description
Roaming the compound are cumbersome sumps- bred giganticly swollen neuro-endocrine glands, they secrete high concentrations of profitable biochemicals such as hormones and neurotransmitters. Sumps continuosly dribble and vomit up the fluids which filter through the fine grate of the floor, where it is collected for processing.
Sumps are normally 'tapped'- like a keg -by amputating their face and parts of the forebrain, greatly increasing flow and making the large beasts much easier to handle. They forage for their own food- slurping up what they can find with the nub of their exposed esophagus, supplemented by troughs of nutrient broth left out by their owners.

Somehow, despite the lack of facial features or distinctly human parts, it still evokes the same reaction as a crying, lonely child (at least to me).
